The Velveteen Rabbit

OK.
So it’s the holiday season, I adore this book, and I’m
taking the easy way out this month by recommending an old
favourite. If you haven’t read this one, go out and
buy the book and read it. Several times. It only takes twenty
minutes. It’s packed with wisdom.
I incorporated this insightful book into the fabric of the
Trust Program. Those who have attended that retreat know the
power of this little book. Those of you who haven’t,
I urge you to get a copy for yourself, read it, and ponder
its inherent wisdom. All packed into a story of stuffed rabbit
who wants to become a real rabbit, it reads like some delightful
grandmother spooning out treats.
You can walk into any bookstore in the world and find a copy
of this children’s classic on the shelves. Published
almost a century ago, that’s staying power! There aren’t
many books in that rarified stratosphere. It’s become
a classic because it deals with classic human themes: becoming
real; growing into yourself; uncovering your truth; living
free. It will strike a chord of recognition within—and
make you want to jump for joy, just like the velveteen rabbit.
